Built in the 1870's, Eglinton Crescent forms part of the western New Town in the elegant and historic West End of Edinburgh. This wonderful crescent with its grand architecture overlooks beautifully maintained tree lined private gardens. With the spires of St Mary's cathedral as a backdrop is 14 Eglinton Crescent.

This property was once the home of David Alan Stevenson one of the famous family of lighthouse engineers and the cousin to the author Robert Louis Stevenson. David's daughter, the renowned authoress Dorothy Emily Stevenson was born in the house.

Dorthy's Grandfather was Lord Roberts of Kandahar V.C. Chief of British military staff and a close friend of Rudyard Kipling. It is interesting to speculate that perhaps they may have all enjoyed the hospitality of No 14 - Why don't you?
